Introducing RightShip’s Dry Bulk Inspections program
RightShip’s Ship Inspections play an important role in the physical validation of vessel conditions and safety management. This is an essential component used within our desktop vetting process.
RightShip’s Ship Inspection Questionnaire (RISQ) addresses the industry’s need for a clear and comprehensive standard for Dry Bulk and General Cargo ship inspections, which strengthens the services our vetting customers rely on.
RISQ includes more than regulatory requirements, it also includes recognised industry best practices which supports shipowners and managers in the application of vessel operation best practice standards. This means we assess additional factors beyond existing safety expectations in areas such as environment, crew welfare and safety management.
RISQ is supported by a digital Inspection delivery platform, where tablets have replaced paper checklists, which makes use and navigation easier for inspectors and enables RightShip to collect more granular data to help shipowner and operators perform analysis to further improve industry practices.
To assist the process where port time is limited, we can also provide Hybrid or Dual Inspections. Hybrid Inspections allow the vessel managers to upload all the documentation to a microsite for review by the Inspector before they board the vessel, leaving just the physical inspection to be completed. We know that this can reduce the onboard time by about 3 hours. Dual Inspections allow the Inspection task to be divided between two inspectors effectively halving the inspection time. See HERE for more information on Hybrid and Dual Inspections.
A key aspect of the RightShip Ship Inspection Program involves training and accreditation of an extensive network of inspectors and Inspection Superintendents. You can find out more about our Inspector accreditation and certification process HERE.
